Description
CALFGUARD® contains modified-live bovine rota- and coronavirus propagated on established cell lines and freeze-dried to preserve stability. Vaccine is rehydrated in a 3-mL dose with sterile diluent.
Approved Uses
Oral vaccination of healthy newborn calves, or for intramuscular vaccination of pregnant cows as an aid in passive maternal immunization of their calves against neonatal calf diarrhea (scours) caused by bovine rotavirus and bovine coronavirus.
Key Features
- Oral vaccination of newborn calves with CALFGUARD stimulates rapid, active immunity against rota- and coronavirus diarrhea, two of the most prevalent forms of viral scours.
- Can be given orally to newborn calves, or IM to pregnant cows, which transfer immunity to calves via protective antibodies in colostrum and milk.
- Early vaccination can minimize contamination of premises, reducing the spread of viral scours.
- CALFGUARD has been proven safe in extensive field trials.
- Adverse reactions in vaccinated calves were not reported, and abortions were not reported when pregnant cows were vaccinated.
